Air Force Athletics Social Media Brand Development

When I started at the Air Force Academy, the athletic department’s social media was all over the place. They had a variety of accounts on different platforms representing their 27 Division 1 sports. However, there was no synergy between them. It was difficult to search for accounts and even more difficult to know if they were affiliated with the academy or fan pages.

It was just as important to build a strong foundation as it was to rollout a content strategy. I established Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for each sport by either creating new or recovering dormant accounts. I had each account updated to have a consistent username and handle. We also rolled out new profile pictures and cover photos for every account.

I then worked with our partners as Facebook and Twitter to receive verification on over 95% of our social media accounts.
